The December 14,2005
meeting of the Board of Directors was called to order at 7:50pm. With only President Dan Hair and Vice-President Mike Tomassone
the only board members present, a 2/3 quorum was not met so no votes on items could be taken.
There were 5 others in attendance. There was discussion on several items. The By-laws were reviewed briefly and will be voted
on at the next meeting.
The all star teams were discussed next and a date of January 14,2006 was determined for the tryouts. The tryouts will start
after the completion of our regular games for that day. tryout guidelines will be voted on at the next board meeting as well
as coaches. Vice-President Mike Tomassone suggested that we use the standings after the completion of games on 1/7/06 as a
guideline for determining the head coach. The coach of the team in first place at that time would be given first opportunity
to coach the team. If that coach declines then it will progress through the standings from there. In the case of a tie, tie
breakers will be used as spelled out in the by-laws. This was welcomed with all present who are also coaches. It was also
suggested by Doug Pierce that if we feel that there are not enough girls at the 7th & 8th grade level that we include
6th grade and have an all middle school team.
President Dan Hair discussed coaches becoming more involved with officiating games. It has become difficult at time to get
people to officiate. It was suggested that a schedule be posted on the website or sent out via email and have coaches sign
up to do a game either before or after there scheduled game. Assistance at the start and end of the day was also discussed.
It is especially important that coaches of teams at the end of the day assist with cleaning up the gym area so that the others
that have been there all day can go home as well. this is also spelled out in the By-Laws.
The banquet was discussed but nothing officially started since not enough board members were there. Favorable comments on
last year’s banquet were received. George Faller felt that it was important that the banquet be self sufficient so as
not to take any other money away from the organization. President Dan Hair assured all that less food would be bought and
maybe a small increase in fee per family may also help but that we were very close last year and the banquet was a success.
the floor was then opened for any other comments and / or suggestions. Doug Pierce asked if the foul line could be moves up
so that the girls on the elementary teams to make it easier for the girls to at least hit the rim. the other coaches present
agreed that this is a problem across the board and suggested a 1 or 2 foot distance. President Dan Hair said that he will
speak to the maintenance people about placing masking tape on the floor just to make sure that it should not damage the floor.
the meeting was then adjourned at 8:30pm.
